Third Book Title Reveal

Is the book finished? No. But unlike book one, whose title did not come to me until the second or third revision, this title came about before I even committed to a story outline. In my March newsletter, I expand on what I mean and provide the same insight at the bottom of this post. For now, the title for book three is—

In Three Words … Life goes on. When we choose to live. But it’s those choices that often make living so hard. This is where the story of Lily begins, at the end of one choice and the beginning of many more. Coming 2026.

How the Title Came to Be

"In three words, I can sum up everything I've learned about life: it goes on." — Robert Frost

Inside this quote, the title for book three is hidden. I landed on the title long before I started writing the story. How? I'm glad you asked.

Not long after I finished revisions on Dream for a Second, I started outlining a story for a character whom you meet at the end. If you've read the book, I'm guessing you can guess who she is. Her energy pops off the pages! The attempted outline gave way to four chapters of frustration and not great writing. Try as I might, I couldn't find that connection point required for main characters to really thrive. So, I tabled her story and began an outline for another character that has been in both of my books so far. As I was brainstorming side characters for her story, I created a sister who, like some younger sisters like to do, grabbed my attention more than my hopeful main character. Perhaps a side character isn't always meant to transition into the spotlight, which seems to be the case for Carrie. But, through the practice of attempting to give her a story, I was able to find the main character for my third book. And throughout this very convoluted process, the title remained.
