Getting to know Time for Once: a blog series

Have you ever wondered …

If I had met this person as who I am now instead of who I was then, would it have changed anything?

I have. Definitely more than once, or twice, or three times. I used to think about it a lot. To the point where my dreams took over and started creating a dremality (dream and reality put together, not a word, but fun!) that would eventually become Time for Once.

You may now be wondering …

How personal is my first book?

Very.

Am I nervous for friends and family to read it?

Very.

Was it a story worth creating?

Very.

Will it be a story worth reading?

Well, I sure hope so. Doesn't any author? However, it won't be for everyone. But if you’re a lover of love stories, or of second, third, and fourth chance romances, or have messed up in life one, two or many times before, then this debut women’s fiction novel could be a great addition to your to-be-read list.

Time for Once is a women’s fiction / contemporary fiction story that spans over a ten-year period and focuses on a woman (Jolie) and a man (Jace) from age twenty to thirty. Yes, the story takes you down a well-worn road of typical coming-of-age struggles like young love, uncertain futures, and dead-end jobs. But the story also veers onto that dirt road shadowed by a canopy of unkempt trees, where the bumps are harder to see. Which is my way of saying there are struggles of lesser popularity explored as well in the story.

Random aside: lesser popularity sounds like an oxymoron.

Edit the above to read: "There are less popular struggles explored in the story as well."

Second random aside: the brain is a strange thing and editing words are for the strangest brains of all.

Rambling aside, the purpose of the next few blogs is to introduce you to Time for Once. To explore why this had to be the first story to come out of me (yes, a second book with a character you’ll meet first in Time for Once is in the works), and to allow you to enter the world of Jolie and Jace for a little while.

That’s all for now. Next time —

— Was it a story worth creating?

Till then, write fearlessly and read freely,

Jes
