Time for Once
Chapter ??

The month of February was frigid. Frigidruary. Which made Jolie wonder in her teeth-chattering cold which sadist decided to put Valentine’s Day, the dreaded day of expected romance, smack in the middle of it all?

Weeks ago Jolie had promised Carrie they would hole up in Carrie’s apartment and binge-watch Johnny Depp movies of the Halloween variety—Nightmare on Elm Street, Edward Scissorhands, all of his less than swoon-worthy roles. Their version of an anti-Valentine’s Day. 

"We’ll make authentic stovetop popcorn with real melted butter," Carrie had cheered over the phone, as if Jolie held the winning raffle ticket to a coveted culinary experience. "And all the salt we want. Bloat away baby!" 

Jolie had done her best to sound excited but the pull to find an excuse and not go had weighed her down. She would much rather mindlessly eat her way through the hours alone then acknowledge the last eight months she’d put her love on pause. And ignore the growing heartache at the possibility of finding love again. With someone else. All bad habits and negative thoughts Jolie wanted to keep hidden from Carrie. She was fine. Everything was fine.
