April Author Feature: Finley K. James

This month, I’m honored to feature Finley K. James, an author of romance with heart and heat. Her most recent novel, Long Time Gone, was released in January of this year and is available now. Please enjoy my author interview with Finley K. James!

Loretta Cox and Calum Wilson's relationship built quickly and burned out just as fast. Now, seven years later, Rett is back in Oak Creek with only one mission: Get Calum to acknowledge their mistake so she can move on with her life.

But how does one move on when so much of their history is entwined with someone else’s?

Genre:

Contemporary Romance

How do you find time to write?

I segment my days into a routine as much as possible. I typically spend my days caring for my three kids, so I need the schedule.

What is the best time of day for you to write?

From 6-8 am, 12-3 pm, and anytime after 8:30 pm (when the baby naps/goes to bed)

How long does it take you to write a book?

It depends. My first book, Scars & Souvenirs, took me over a year to write. Its sequel took 3 months. Long Time Gone took a little over 9 months because I lost motivation for a while.

Does writing energize you or exhaust you?

Generally, it energizes me. There’s just something I love about creating these characters and their stories.

Do you believe in writer’s block?

Oh, absolutely.

Have you ever gotten reader’s block?

Yes! A few times in my life.

If you could tell your younger writer self anything, what would it be?

To keep writing even when I think it’s trash. Someone out there wants to read what I write–why not give it to them?
